Why Finkenwalde?

Finkenwalde takes its name from the discipleship community led by Dietrich Bonhoeffer in Germany during the 1930s. Bonhoeffer believed Christian formation should involve more than gaining theological knowledge. At Finkenwalde, Scripture, prayer, worship, friendship, shared life, and practical ministry were brought together to form people for faithful service in the local church.

Redeemer’s Finkenwalde: Center for Discipleship is not an attempt to recreate Bonhoeffer’s seminary. It draws from the same central conviction: disciples are formed as the truth of the gospel is learned, practiced, and lived together.

Finkenwalde is Redeemer's intentional discipleship environment for people who want to know Jesus more deeply and become equipped to help others follow Him.

It brings biblical learning, spiritual formation, life together, and practical ministry into one shared experience. This is more than a class to complete. It is an opportunity to grow in knowledge, character, and faithful participation in the mission of the local church.

Participants will learn alongside a committed group of people, engage Scripture and Christian theology, practice rhythms that shape everyday faithfulness, and take meaningful next steps in serving and making disciples.
