Online Good Friday Service

At your pace. In Your home. Tons of flexibility.

The Online Good Friday service will be available on our website on Friday, April 10, at 8am. At that point, you can find the service by clicking here.

As a church, we are going to try something a little different for Good Friday, partly because we have to, but mostly because we want to. The current pandemic is pushing us to lean into our faith in different ways. To try different things and to experiment with how we “do church.”

In light of that, what you will find below is a suggested liturgy (fancy word for worship service) to walk through at your own pace. It includes suggested songs, Scripture readings, times of reflection, and communion.

Here are a few suggestions for how to use this time:

  • The service is structured in three movements, or parts. You could consider doing each part at different times throughout Friday. For example:

    • Part 1: 9 AM—when Jesus was nailed to the cross

    • Part 2: Noon—when darkness was over the whole land

    • Part 3: 3 PM—when Jesus died

  • Depending on when you do the service, consider dimming lights and lighting candles.

  • If you have younger kids you might do something different with them and then walk through the service after they are asleep.

  • Go slow. This is meant to be a more immersive experience. Take your time to hear from your Lord.

  • There are multiple opportunities to respond. Feel free to journal, to draw, to pray, or respond however is most beneficial for you.

P.S. Feel tons of freedom in this, the big idea is to connect with Jesus.
