Our Online Sunday Service is a way for us to gather together at the same time but in different locations throughout the county and the globe (hello and welcome to our missionary families!). We want to be wise and prudent to prevent the spread of illness while continuing to learn, grow, and worship together. Our hope in this time is to participate in and be shaped by prayer, music, a sermon, and Scripture.
Today, as our church gathers across Whatcom County and beyond, we are praying for healing and care for those affected, for peace and calm for our heads and hearts, for energy and strength for those directly caring for those who are sick, and for God to be glorified as His church lives as salt and light in this world.
We invite you to share your experiences by using the hashtag: #RedeemerNWFamily on your social media platform of choice. This will help us interact with one another as a family on Facebook and Instagram. If you don’t have or use social media and want to share your images/videos, please email them to dane@redeemernw.org.

Opening Prayer
~Pray out loud. If gathered with others could take turns or pray all together~
(“God All Sufficient,” A prayer from the Valley of Vision)
O Lord of Grace,
The world is before us this day, and we are weak and fearful,
but we look to You for strength;
If we venture forth alone we stumble and fall,
but on the Beloved’s arms we are firm as the eternal hills;
If left to the treachery of our hearts we shall shame thy Name,
but if enlightened, guided, upheld by thy Spirit we shall bring thee glory.
Be thou our arm to support, our strength to stand, our light to see,
our feet to run, our shield to protect, our sword to repel, our sun to warm.
To enrich us will not diminish thy fullness;
All thy lovingkindness is in thy Son,
We bring Him to Thee in the arms of faith,
We urge His saving Name as the One who died for us.
We plead His blood to pay our debts of wrong.
Accept His worthiness for our unworthiness,
His sinlessness for our transgressions, His purity for our uncleanness,
His sincerity for our guile, His truth for our deceits,
His meekness for our pride, His constancy for our backslidings,
His love for our enmity, His fullness for our emptiness,
His faithfulness for our treachery, His obedience for our waywardness,
His holy life for our unchaste ways,
His righteousness for our dead works,
His death for our life.
In Jesus’ grace filled name, Amen.
Call To Worship
~Read out loud~
10 Behold, the Lord God comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
behold, his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.
11 He will tend his flock like a shepherd;
he will gather the lambs in his arms;
he will carry them in his bosom,
and gently lead those that are with young.

Reflection / Sermon Application
~Feel free to do this now or after the service, and/or throughout the week~
Take a few minutes reflect on the sermon. Consider how you might apply this lesson to your life in practical ways. We encourage you to engage with your family or call/text a friend from Redeemer to discuss the sermon application questions below.
What storms have you faced in the past?
How did Jesus show up in those past storms?
What are you worried about right now?
How can remembering that Jesus is strong and kind help provide a little more peace and a little more calm?
Read the following verse out loud and spend 1 minute quietly listening for God’s voice, or repeating Jesus’ words in your head.
And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. (Mark 4.39)
Communion
~Those who trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior receive communion~
Every week we remember and retell the Gospel by receiving communion. We encourage you to receive communion this week wherever you are. The bread represents Jesus’ body given for us. The juice represents the blood He shed for our redemption.
As you receive the bread and juice, let it be a reminder that Jesus has already quieted the greatest storm you could ever face; that of death and judgment. In Jesus’ death and resurrection we who have faith in Him have the assurance of eternal life. We won’t perish. As you receive communion consider repeating the words “Jesus defeated the greatest storm, this storm won’t win either.”
Giving
~An opportunity to worship God with our finances~
In response to God giving us Jesus, we give. This is a wonderful and important part of our worship. Take this time as an opportunity to thank God for your daily bread. Take time to connect your giving to what God is doing in and through the church community. Our hearts follow our treasure; may God use your giving to fuel your worship of Jesus.
While we are not publicly gathering, this link will give you three options to give.

Oh praise the One, Who paid my debt
And raised this life up from the dead

Closing Prayer
~Feel free to use the following prayer or pray however you are led~
God stronger than all storms,
We ask You to speak to our turbulent hearts and minds. There is so much uncertainty and worry swarming all around. Help us to find shelter in Jesus, who is strong and kind and with us. Help us to believe, again and again, and more and more, that this storm won’t win. Grant us the gift of faith. We know we can’t make ourselves sturdy and stable, but You can. Draw our hearts back to You. Let us reach out for Jesus in our free fall, trusting that He is strong enough to hold us. That He never let’s go. That He will never fail. Would You speak, “Peace! Be still!” to our hearts and minds, and may they obey.
Do this for your glory and for our calm.
In Jesus’ calming name, Amen.
Benediction
~The word benediction literally means “good (bene) speaking (dictio).” Close your service by speaking a good word to one another~
“The storm won’t win. Rest in the strength and kindness of Jesus.”
Cookies & Coffee
~Have a cookie (especially all you little ones!) and engage in fellowship at a distance~
On Sunday we would typically walk over to the Commons after the service for cookies, coffee, and fellowship together. We miss that time!
While we are meeting online and encouraging social distancing to keep our community safe, let’s engage in fellowship from a distance. We encourage you to do a “social hour” with your friends from church by texting or calling them. Let’s stay connected!
