ONLINE SERVICE
Sunday, APRIL 5th

Our Online Sunday Service is a way for us to gather together at the same time but in different locations throughout the county and the globe (hello and welcome to our missionary families!). We want to be wise and prudent to prevent the spread of illness while continuing to learn, grow, and worship together. Our hope in this time is to participate in and be shaped by prayer, music, a sermon, and Scripture.
Today, as our church gathers across Whatcom County and beyond, we are praying for healing and care for those affected, for peace and calm for our heads and hearts, for energy and strength for those directly caring for those who are sick, and for God to be glorified as His church lives as salt and light in this world.
We invite you to share your experiences by using the hashtag: #RedeemerNWFamily on your social media platform of choice. This will help us interact with one another as a family on Facebook and Instagram. If you don’t have or use social media and want to share your images/videos, please email them to dane@redeemernw.org.

Opening Prayer
~Pray out loud. If gathered with others you could take turns or pray all together~
(Resting On God, a prayer adapted from Valley of Vision)
Our God Most High, Most Glorious,
The thought of your infinite serenity cheers us, for we are toiling and grinding, troubled and distressed, but You are for ever at perfect peace. You have no fear. Your power knows no bounds. Your goodness has no limits. You bring order out of confusion, and turn our defeats into victories.
The Lord God all powerful reigns!
We come to You as sinners with cares and sorrows in order to leave every concern entirely to You and every sin calling for Christ’s precious blood. Revive deep spirituality in our hearts. Let us live near to the great Shepherd, hear His voice, know His tone, follow His call. Keep us from deception by causing us to abide in the truth. Keep us from harm by helping us walk in the power of the Spirit. Give us a growing faith in eternal truths, and deepen our trust in You through our experiences, good or bad.
Let us never be ashamed of the truth of the Gospel. Let us never be ashamed of Jesus, but by the Spirit, live for Him and live to share His Gospel.
Lord, help us, for we can be lukewarm and chill; unbelief mars ours confidence, sin makes us forget You. Let the weeds that grow in our souls be cut at the roots. Grant us to know that we truly live only we we live for You.
Your presence alone can make us holy, devout, strong, and happy.
Abide in us, gracious God.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.
Call To Worship
~Read out loud~
28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Sing – “Let Everything (Praise the Lord)“

There is a river that flows unrestrained from Your heart

Morning by morning Your faithfulness shines like the sun
Heaven’s on fire alive with the brilliance of love

Open my eyes to believe
Awake my soul

With thanksgiving on our lips
We enter Your courts to day
All our lives we freely give
A waken my soul to praise

My hope is built on nothing less

Weak made strong in the Savior's love Through the storm He is Lord
Lord of all

When darkness seems to hide His face I rest on His unchanging grace In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil My anchor holds within the veil
Verse 3
When he shall come with trumpet sound Oh, may I then in Him be found Dressed in His righteousness alone Faultless, stand before the throne
Sermon - Our Rest
Reflection / Sermon Application
~Feel free to do this now or after the service, and/or throughout the week~
Take a few minutes to reflect on the sermon. Consider how you might apply this lesson to your life in practical ways. We encourage you to engage with your family or call/text a friend from Redeemer to discuss the sermon application questions below:
What helps you rest?
What makes it hard for you to rest?
How would you paraphrase Psalm 131?
What parts of this passage do you struggle with most?
How does Jesus offer the ultimate rest?
Communion
~Those who trust Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior receive communion~
Every week we remember and retell the Gospel by receiving communion. We encourage you to receive communion this week wherever you are. The bread represents Jesus’ body given for us. The juice represents the blood He shed for our redemption.
As you receive the bread and juice, let it be a reminder that through the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, the ultimate rest is coming.
As you receive communion, consider repeating the words, “ God’s got this and God’s got me And that’s enough.”
Giving
~An opportunity to worship God with our finances~
In response to God giving us Jesus, we give. This is a wonderful and important part of our worship. Take this time as an opportunity to thank God for your daily bread. Take time to connect your giving to what God is doing in and through the church community. Our hearts follow our treasure; may God use your giving to fuel your worship of Jesus.
While we are not publicly gathering, this link will give you three options to give.

Closing Prayer
~Feel free to use the following prayer or pray however you are led~
Our Great and Good Father,
What shall we say to this pandemic? What shall we say to whatever makes us worry? If you are for us then nothing can ultimately be against us. Because You did not withhold Your own Son, but gave Him up for us, we can with absolute certainty know that You will graciously give us all things. In that guarantee we can fully rest. (Romans 8.31-32)
In Jesus name, Amen.
Benediction
~The word benediction literally means “good (bene) speaking (dictio).” Close your service by speaking a good word to one another~
God’s got this, and God’s got us, go in peace.
Cookies & Coffee
~Have a cookie (especially all you little ones!) and engage in fellowship at a distance~
On Sunday we would typically walk over to the Commons after the service for cookies, coffee, and fellowship together. We miss that time!
While we are meeting online and encouraging social distancing to keep our community safe, let’s engage in fellowship from a distance. We encourage you to do a “social hour” with your friends from church by texting or calling them. Let’s stay connected!
