ONLINE SERVICE
SUNDAY, APRIL 12th
*Closed captioning (CC) is available; click “CC” next to each video
Our Online Sunday Service is a way for us to gather together at the same time but in different locations throughout the county and the globe (hello and welcome to our missionary families!). We want to be wise and prudent to prevent the spread of illness while continuing to learn, grow, and worship together. Our hope in this time is to participate in and be shaped by prayer, music, a sermon, and Scripture.
Today, as our church gathers across Whatcom County and beyond, we are praying for healing and care for those affected, for peace and calm for our heads and hearts, for energy and strength for those directly caring for those who are sick, and for God to be glorified as His church lives as salt and light in this world.
We invite you to share your experiences by using the hashtag: #RedeemerNWFamily on your social media platform of choice. This will help us interact with one another as a family on Facebook and Instagram. If you don’t have or use social media and want to share your images/videos, please email them to dane@redeemernw.org.

Opening Prayer
~Pray out loud. If gathered with others, you could take turns or pray all together~
Almighty Father,
Christ is risen!
Christ is risen, death has lost.
Christ is risen, sorrow won’t win.
Christ is risen, the New Creation is coming.
Christ is risen, we will rise too.
Christ is risen. Let this be our anthem until Jesus returns.
Christ is risen!
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!
Call To Worship
~Watch* and Worship~
*Parental discretion for younger viewers is advised for a scene with Jesus on the cross
Sing – “Glorious Day“
*Closed captioning (CC) is available
Verse 1
I was buried beneath my shame
Who could carry that kind of weight
It was my tomb
'til I met You
Verse 2
I was breathing but not alive
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb
'til I met You
Chorus
'Cause when You called my name and
I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name and I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
Verse 3
Now Your mercy has saved my soul
Now Your freedom is all that I know
The old made new
Jesus when I met You
Bridge
I needed rescue my sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter, I was an orphan
Now You call me a citizen of Heaven
When I was broken You were my healing
Now Your love is the air that I'm breathing
I have a future my eyes are open
Sermon - Our Longings
Communion
~Those who trust Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior receive communion~
Every week we remember and retell the Gospel by receiving communion. We encourage you to receive communion this week wherever you are. The bread represents Jesus’ body given for us. The juice represents the blood He shed for our redemption.
As you receive the bread and juice, let it be a reminder that through the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, the ultimate rest is coming.
As you receive communion, consider repeating the words, “ God’s got this and God’s got me And that’s enough.”
Sing – “Only King Forever”
*Closed captioning (CC) is available
Verse 1
Our God a firm foundation
Our rock, the only solid ground
As nations rise and fall
Kingdoms once strong now shaken
But we trust forever in Your Name
The Name of Jesus
We trust the Name of Jesus
Chorus
You are the only King forever
Almighty God we lift You higher
You are the only King forever
Forevermore, You are victorious
Verse 2
Unmatched in all Your wisdom
In love and justice You will reign
And every knee will bow
We bring our expectations
Our hope is anchored in Your Name
The Name of Jesus
Oh, we trust the Name of Jesus
Verse 3
We lift our banner high
We lift the Name of Jesus
From age to age You reign
Your kingdom has no end
Baptism
~An opportunity to look back at baptisms we’ve celebrated together in the past~
Sing – “King of Kings“
*Closed captioning (CC) is available
Verse 1
In the darkness, we were waiting
Without hope, without light
'Til from Heaven You came running
There was mercy in Your eyes
To fulfill the law and prophets
To a virgin came the Word
From a throne of endless glory
To a cradle in the dirt
Chorus
Praise the Father, praise the Son
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
Verse 2
To reveal the kingdom coming
And to reconcile the lost
To redeem the whole creation
You did not despise the cross
For even in Your suffering
You saw to the other side
Knowing this was our salvation
Jesus for our sake You died
Verse 3
And the morning that You rose
all of heaven held its breath
Till that stone was moved for good
for the Lamb had conquered death
And the dead rose from their tombs
and the angels stood in awe
For the souls of all who’d come
to the Father are restored
Verse 4
And the Church of Christ was born
then the Spirit lit the flame
Now this Gospel truth of old shall
not kneel shall not faint
By His blood and in His Name
in His freedom I am free
For the love of Jesus Christ
who has resurrected me
Chorus
Praise the Father, praise the Son
Praise the Spirit, three in one
God of glory, Majesty
Praise forever to the King of Kings
Closing Prayer
~Feel free to use the following prayer or pray however you are led~
Our Father, in Heaven,
We are hope-shaped creatures and you are a hope-producing God. Grant us an ever-deepening trust in Your promises, that they would fill the nooks and crannies of our lives. Help us to behold what You have guaranteed to do in the future, that we might live in the present with unsinkable, unfading, unending hope.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Benediction
~The word benediction literally means “good (bene) speaking (dictio).” Close your service by speaking a good word to one another~
One day all the sad things will fade and all things will be made new—forever. Live with hope as alive as Jesus.
Cookies & Coffee
~Have a cookie (especially all you little ones!) and engage in fellowship at a distance~
On Sunday we would typically walk over to the Commons after the service for cookies, coffee, and fellowship together. We miss that time!
While we are meeting online and encouraging social distancing to keep our community safe, let’s engage in fellowship from a distance. We encourage you to do a “social hour” with your friends from church by texting or calling them. Let’s stay connected!
Reflection/Sermon Application
~ Throughout the week, consider how you might apply this passage in practical ways~
We encourage you to engage with your family or call/text a friend from Redeemer to discuss the sermon application questions below this week:
If you could make the world exactly how you would want, what would it look like?
What difference can hope make in your life?
Think of a time when you were in a difficult situation—what difference would a passage like this have made?
What do we have to do to “get in” on this new heaven and new earth?
Have a question or just need to talk with someone?
