We Believe

Redeemer Church, its members and leaders do affirm and declare our belief in, and the defense of, the historic Christian faith as depicted in the following confession:

The Tri-Une God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in existence, co‐equal in nature, power, glory, and attributes. (Genesis 1:1‐26, Deuteronomy 6.4, John 1:1‐3, Matthew 28:19, John 4:24, Romans 1:19‐20, 2 Corinthians 13.14, Ephesians 4:5‐6)

The Scriptures

We believe in the full, inspiration of the Bible in the Old and New Testaments: as authoritative, sufficient, infallible and without error in the original manuscripts. Not only as containing, but as being in themselves the only written Word of God; and the need of the teaching of the Holy Spirit for a true and spiritual understanding of the whole. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20‐21, Mark 13:31, John 8:31‐32, John 20:31, Acts 20:32)

Jesus

We believe in the absolute deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; His virgin birth; His real and perfect humanity; the authority of His teaching, and the infallibility of all He has stated in the Word; His work of atonement for the sin of the human race by His representative, penal substitutionary suffering and death on the cross; His bodily resurrection, His ascension into Heaven; His present high‐priestly intercession for His people; and His lordship over His Church as its supreme Head. We believe that Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead. (Matthew 1:18‐25; Luke 1:26‐38; John 1:1; 20:28; Romans 9:5; 2 Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 2:21‐23; John 20:30, 31; Matthew 20:28; Acts 1:11; Romans 5:6‐8; 6:9,10; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 9:28; 1 Timothy 3:16, 1 Peter 4:5; Romans 14:9; 2 Timothy 4:1, Matthew 16:27, Mark 14:62, Phil. 3:20, 1 Thessalonians 4:15, Titus 2:13, 1 Corinthians 15)

Humanity

We believe that human beings were created in the image of God, were tempted by Satan and sinned, and are therefore under God’s condemnation. As a consequence of Adam’s fall, human nature is totally depraved. (Genesis. 1:26, Genesis 3, Genesis 2:17, Eccl. 2:11, Jeremiah 17:9, Romans 3:10‐20, Romans 5:19)

Salvation

We believe in justification of the sinner, by grace, through faith, on the grounds of the death, and bodily resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We believe those given saving faith are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become new creatures, delivered from condemnation, adopted, preserved and given eternal life. (John 3:14; 5:24, John 8:12, Proverbs 28:13, 1 John 1:9, John 3:16, Ephesians 2.4‐9; John 1:12‐13, 2 Corinthians 5:17, 1 John 3.1, Gal 4.1‐7, Philippians 1.6, John 17.3, Romans 8:1)

Holy Spirit

We believe in the absolute necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit in conviction of sin, regeneration and sanctification, as well as in ministry and worship. (John 3.5‐8; 14:16‐17,26; 15:26‐27; John 16:7‐14; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19; Galatians 5:22‐26)

Church

We believe that the true Church is composed of only those people who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the body of Christ of which He is Head. (Ephesians 2:19‐22; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:19‐21; Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:23‐25)

Commission

We believe that Christ commanded the Church to go into all the world and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing and teaching those who believe. (Matt 28:16‐20, John 20.21‐23; Acts 2:42, Hebrews 10:23‐25)

Consummation

We believe in the resurrection of the body; the judgment of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; the eternal blessedness of believers in Christ in the new creation; and the everlasting, conscious punishment of unbelievers (Matthew 16:27, John 14:3, Phil. 3:20‐21, 1 Thessalonians 4:15, 2 Timothy 4:1, 1 Corinthians 4:5, 1 Corinthians 15, 2 Thessalonians 1:7‐10, Revelation 21‐22, Revelation 20:4‐6,11‐15)
