ONLINE SERVICE

Our Online Sunday Service is a way for us to gather together at the same time but in different locations throughout Whatcom county and the globe (hello and welcome to our missionary families!). 

We invite you to share your experiences by using the hashtag: #RedeemerNWFamily on your social media platform of choice. This will help us interact with one another as a family on Facebook and Instagram. If you don’t have or use social media and want to share your images/videos, please email them to dane@redeemernw.org.

Opening Prayer

Glorious God,

Today, would you show us what You are like? Would you replace our confused thoughts with Your truth? No doubt You are altogether incompressible but you are not entirely unknowable. Reveal Yourself to us that we might see You better, enjoy You more, trust You more completely, worship You more intensely.

We know from your Word, among so many things, that You are:

Merciful. You don’t give us what we deserve.

Gracious. You provide what we could never earn.

Overflowing in steadfast love. We cannot break Your love.

Forever faithful. You are solid, stable, strong.

Full of forgiveness. We can’t out-sin your grace.

Just in all your ways. We can bring no charge of wrong against You.

Please show us Your glory. Show us Your goodness.

It’s what our souls most truly need.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Communion

~Those who trust Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior receive communion~

Every week we remember and retell the Gospel by receiving communion. The bread represents Jesus’ body given for us. The juice represents the blood He shed for our redemption.

As you receive the bread and juice notice that you come with empty hands. Lay down your performing, trying, obeying. Just come needy and find rest for your soul. Jesus alone is your righteousness, sanctification and redemption.

As you receive communion, consider repeating the words, “Jesus you are my ultimate rest.”

Giving

~An opportunity to worship God with our finances~

In response to God giving us Jesus, we give. This is a wonderful and important part of our worship. Take this time as an opportunity to thank God for your daily bread. Take time to connect your giving to what God is doing in and through the church community. Our hearts follow our treasure; may God use your giving to fuel your worship of Jesus.

(The following prayer is from Scotty Smith, based on Matthew 11.28-30)

Dear Lord Jesus,

How can we not respond to such a grand and grace-full invitation? Your gentle, lowly heart is irresistible to us; and your “easy yoke and light burden,” alone, provide the rest for which we long. Thank you for being so welcoming, understanding, and kind.

Some of us seem permanently allergic to your grace—so unable to really believe you love us as much as you say you do. Some of us are quietly suffering the destructive shame of embarrassing weaknesses and uncontrollable obsessions. Some of us are tired, spent, and disillusioned, from the unrealistic demands and unexpected sucker-punches of serving you. ALL of us need you, and ALL of us are objects of your affection.

Jesus, we need you in this moment. Flood our hearts with your presence and peace. Grant us the assurance that you are enough. Give us the daily mercies and sufficient grace you have pledged.

Jesus, help us walk today as a people of faith, hope, and love. Give us the wisdom and power you promise. Bring much glory to yourself, as we bring our restless selves to you. Write stories of redemption, refreshment and renewal, by your hand of mercy and might.

So very Amen we pray, with thankfulness, in your most worthy and gracious name.

Benediction

~The word benediction literally means “good (bene) speaking (dictio).” Close your service by speaking a good word to one another~

Gentle is what Jesus is. Come to Him and rest in His grace.

Cookies & Coffee

~Have a cookie (especially all you little ones!) and engage in fellowship at a distance~

On Sunday we would typically walk over to the Commons after the service for cookies, coffee, and fellowship together. We miss that time!

While we are meeting online and encouraging social distancing to keep our community safe, let’s engage in fellowship from a distance. We encourage you to do a “social hour” with your friends from church by texting or calling them. Let’s stay connected!
